The Pella Police Department is looking to bolster the reserve officer staff.

Lt. Shane Cox tells KNIA/KRLS News reserves serve a variety of functions, including back-up to on-duty officers, security at events, and other functions and duties. Cox says many reserve officers have moved on to work full-time in law enforcement as well, and even for those without aspirations of a career with the police, it’s a fulfilling role to serve in.

“A lot of my reserve officers that I have currently at the police department–they love the city of Pella, they love working for the community in this capacity,” He says. “People around town know them as a connection back to the police department.”

Qualified individuals can learn more about what it takes to be a reserve at an informational meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street. Applications are available in the main lobby of the department, with a submission deadline of October 19th.
