As conditions improved, so did the play of the Central College men’s golf team but that still resulted in a fifth-place finish at the eight-team Ronnie Eastman Invitational Tuesday.

The 36-hole tourney started Monday but the first round wasn’t completed until Tuesday morning due to rain. Central carded a 318-310—628 while Winona State University took top honors at 304-299—603. American Rivers Conference rival Luther College was third at 313-302—615. The tournament was hosted by Viterbo University. Central is off until the Morningside Mustang Invitational Oct. 15-16 at the Prairie Club in Valentine, Nebraska. It’s Central’s first appearance at the tourney.
