Work on Knoxville’s portion of the Competine Trail is expected to resume in the spring, after the city worked out easement agreements for parts of the trail.

Assistant City Manager Heather Ussery tells KNIA/KRLS News the development will continue right where it left off.

“That will begin currently where it ends, behind the hospital,” Ussery says. “We will begin on the other side of Highway 14, and it will go all the way to 5th Street.”

The city’s eventual goal is to have the Competine Trail loop around the city, and connect with other existing hiking and biking trails.

The latest easements received city council approval on Monday night.
