Sunday will be a day on the farm for visitors, during the annual Farm Crawl…as six area farm operations open up to show guests what they do.
These family-owned and operated businesses are banding together and encouraging visitors to take in the sights at each location; you can see farm animals, sample fresh produce, honey and other farm-made products, or see demonstrations of skills such as operating a tractor or working as a blacksmith.
John Pierce is from Pierce’s Pumpkin Patch, one of the participants this year; he tells KNIA/KRLS News the Farm Crawl crowds are looking for something more than the usual visitors he gets.
“These people are, they like to experience something different; that’s been our experience in the past,” Pierce says. “So they’re, I wouldn’t say adventurous, but they’re wanting to learn new things, I guess.”
Also taking part are Blue Gate Farm, Coyote Run Farm, Crooked Gap Farm, Schneider Orchard and Williams Machine Shop.
Events at all locations run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
