Marion County has a bright future in cross country. Four girls ran in the 25th Washburn Statewide Middle School Cross Country Meet in Ankeny on Saturday. Twin Cedars’ Rylee Dunkin was the state champion crossing the finish line in 12:31. Two more Sabers also ran including Cheyanne Bruns, who placed eighth in a time of 13:32 and Kisha Reed placing 21st in a time of 14:45. Knoxville’s Norah Pearson also ran in the eighth grade race and finished fifth in a time of 12:43.
