Enrollment has risen over 2% for the Indianola Community School District for the 2018-19 school year, to 3,494 students.

Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News more students in the district means a little more help from state funding.

“In education speak we talk about having a pupil driven funding formula, so your number of students really does determine the amount of state aid that you are going to get. The legislature has not set the supplemental aid rate yet, but we know that even at this year’s funding level it would be a nice funding increase for the district”

Sathoff also said the rise in enrollment is a welcome sight, as there has been a slight decrease over the last several years.
