The Indianola School Board, after hearing from the School Safety Committee at their most recent meeting, agreed to let Superintendent Art Sathoff explore the possibility of hiring a school resource officer in cooperation with the City of Indianola.
Sathoff tells KNIA News the district is trying to use every resource they have to find out the viability of helping to hire an SRO
“There have been a lot of conversations with not only the School Safety Committee, Police Chief Button, and City Manager Ryan Waller, but with the school board, staff, administrative team, to get their help in streamlining the process. We are still in the preliminary stages, but it is something we have discussed and will continue to discuss.”
Sathoff also said that no official decisions have been made, but both the city and Indianola Police Departments have been very cooperative in trying to find a solution.
