In Iowa House District 79, Republican Dustin Hite, Democrat Samantha Keith, and Libertarian Nicholas Ryan are running for the seat held by retiring Representative Guy Vander Linden, including Pella and most of Mahaska County.

In U.S. House District Two, incumbent Dave Loebsack is running for a seventh term in office against Republican Christopher Peters, who is challenging Loebsack for the second straight election. The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors will have two open seats, with four challengers running, including Paul DeGeest, Steve Parker, Scott Van Veldhuizen, and incumbent Steven Wanders.
