Marion County voters provided a good turnout on Election Day; results indicate 63 percent of registered voters cast a ballot, which County Auditor Jake Grandia says is impressive for a mid-term election.

He tells KNIA/KRLS News a lot of work goes into keeping the polls running all day long, and lots of credit goes to the judges who man them for 14 hours or more.

“These fourteen hours, closing at 9 p.m. it’s just a really, really long day, fourteen hours, and especially with turnouts like this,” Grandia says. “They really don’t get a break, they really don’t get to eat or much like that; so they put in a really long day and deserve all the credit.”

Grandia says no problems were reported at any of the polls on Tuesday.
