The Pella City Council set a public hearing for annexation at their meeting Tuesday.
A resolution is under consideration to schedule a date to review proposed annexation of 167 acres of land. RDP Holdings has submitted an application to voluntarily annex the land, currently west of the Pella City Limits north of Highway G-28. The council will send the application to the Marion County Board of Supervisors, publish a public notice, and hold the public hearing on December 4th.
A resolution designating a loading zone next to the new Scholte Gardens on Broadway Street and the second reading of an ordinance updating downtown parking regulations were approved. They also heard a presentation from the Pella Kiwanis to request the development of a Miracle Playground, with cost to be split between the city and Kiwanis if the council moves ahead with that project next year.
Following regular business, the council discussed a request from Historic Pella Trust to partner together to create a learning walkway connecting the Tuttle Cabin and Sunken Gardens and proposed improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
