The Pella Hy-Vee is hosting a breakfast for local military veterans on Monday, November 12th from 6 to 11 a.m.

Store Director Derek Sparks tells KRLS News it’s a highlight of his year to give back to those who have served the nation. Jefferson Intermediate School is holding their annual music tribute from students to all area veterans on November 12th at 10:30 a.m.

Music teacher Lori Lourens says students each year sing patriotic songs, recite poems, make art, and write essays to honor veterans in the area.

Central College will host a special commemoration of Armistice Day and Veterans Day at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the Central Chapel.

All are invited to join in observing the 100th anniversary of the official end of World War I. Central Chaplin Joe Brummel will offer a memorial service honoring the sacrifice of all who served in World War I and all veterans, past and present. Mark Barloon, senior lecturer of history, will present a brief lecture entitled, “Armistice Day 100 Years Later.” A reception with light refreshments will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
