Warren County Public Health wants to remind residents that during the holidays, it is important to store and clean up your food properly.

Director of Warren County Public Health Jodene DeVault tells KNIA News it’s not always easy to clean up after a big meal, but don’t let food stay out.

“Just be aware that if you have foods out for long periods of time, it is dangerous if they are not kept at the proper temperature. Everyone loves to go back for seconds or a snack later, but keep the food in the refrigerator otherwise you risk getting sick.”

DeVault also said that most people who get sick over the holidays almost always assume it was a restaurant but over 80% of the time food poisoning comes from their homes.
