Veterans were presented quilts in honor of their military service at a ceremony Tuesday night.

Kelly Van Vliet is part of the Pella Quilts of Valor Group and the owner of The Quilted Windmill in Pella. Van Vliet tells KRLS News the Pella Area Quilters Guild partnered with their new group to make twenty-three blankets to give to local veterans at the Pella Memorial Building.

“I thought that was one of the best parts was to see that no matter the age or the area they served in or what magnitude they served in, that we were honoring them all and we appreciate all everything that they’ve all done.”

Numerous volunteers from both groups contributed to sewing together the quilts, American Legion Post 89 helped organize the ceremony, and the Pella Community Foundation supported the effort. (Honorees listed below photos)
