The Indianola Community School Districts were recently named to the Iowa Department of Education Gold Star for Student Reporting.
The reporting involves the school district communicating with the state on assessment results, demographic data, finance reports, annual progress, and more. Indianola Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the district is trying to keep up with the constant new developments in education.
“Anybody in education will tell you that the job has changed, that there is much more reporting. The state has gotten much better at being data driven, as we have in education as well. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes with that and what it means is that our reporting has been done accurately and timely to the state. The department of education appreciates that and we also use that data to help us with our decision making.”
Sathoff also said that the recognition is due to the hard work by Ryan Whitesitt and Julie Ormsby who handle the reporting, and they deserve the credit for the district being recognized. Knoxville, Twin Cedars and Martensdale-St. Mary’s were also recognized to the Gold Star list among 97 other schools.
