Knoxville pulled off the sweep last night over Albia in basketball as the girls drubbed the Lady Dees 69-17 and the boys came from behind to win 64-58 as heard on KNIA and kniakrls.com. In the girls game, it was tied at four, then Knoxville scored the next 30 points of the game to put away any doubt who would win. Katie Keitges led four players in double figures with 19 points and Maggie Wilkins scored all 18 of her points in the first half. Knoxville is 2-0 and 1-0 in the conference. The boys game was much closer and Albia seemed to have all things clicking with good shooting and holding Knoxville to arm’s length most of the first half. But the Panthers came out in the second half and took control fending off an Albia burst at the end of the game. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports, the second half the guys got more aggressive. The Panthers were led by Kieren Nichols with 26 points, Elliott Schmidt dropped in 18 points on four three points bombs. Knoxville is 1-0 and the same in conference. The girls are off until Saturday when they travel to Oskaloosa, while the boys wait until next Tuesday hosting Clarke.
