The Pella basketball teams both lost in very different ways last night, with the Lady Dutch falling to No. 1 in class 3A North Polk 79-51, and the boys falling on a last second-shot to Gilbert 79-75.

Pella lost on the road when the Tigers hit a three pointer with 22 seconds left. Five Dutch scored in double figures, including Logan Shetterly (16), Ryan Gustafson (14), Nick DeJong (12), Treyton Sturgeon (11), and John Oltman (10). The Lady Dutch couldn’t keep up with 13 shots made from downtown for the Comets, a 3A state qualifier a season ago.

Pella’s boys start at 0-1, while the girls fall to 1-1, and they travel to Pella Christian’s gym Friday.
