Volunteers are needed to participate in a three month video-led fitness study conducted by the Geri-Fit Company at the Pella Public Library.
To qualify for the study, participants must be age 65 or over and not be doing any kind of strength training exercises (walking, tai chi or yoga is ok). Most of the exercises will be performed seated in a chair and participants will not have to get on the floor. Study subjects must complete as many of the 24 classes that will be conducted during the three month (12 week) period from January to April. They will need to bring their own set of 2 or 3-pound dumbbell weights, a stretch band and water to drink during the workout. Participants will be exercising to a DVD and several different levels of video workouts will be shown throughout the duration of the study. Everyone is encouraged to work out at their own pace. Geri-Fit video fitness classes will start on Jan. 16 and will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in the Library Meeting Room. Limited space is available and registration is required.
