Chosen from a pool of over 40 nominees, Central College football kicker Jon Alberts was named one of 10 finalists for the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award.
Kickers from all non-Division I FBS schools are eligible for the award based on athletic performance and community service. This list includes three kickers from Division III schools. Alberts was previously on the preseason, September and October watch-lists for the same award. Alberts hit 45 of 46 extra point attempts this season, including 35 straight since September 17. He converted eight of nine field goals, three of which were longer than 40 yards.
His 55-yarder against Wartburg is the longest in Division III and tied for the fourth longest in all divisions of NCAA.
