The Indianola Community School District held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house Monday night, opening their new district office next to Indianola Middle School.
Following the ceremony, the Indianola School Board met in regular session, which was opened with public comments from a multitude of parents, students, and the regional representative from the National Association of School Resource Officers Deborah Vanvelzen about the district hiring a school resource officer. Several board members expressed their support in hiring an SRO, with the stipulation that it be in a partnership with the city and that the appropriate funds can be found. The board also approved the 2019-20 district calendar, and reviewed special education enrollment, a report from the HR Committee, a report from the technology committee, and tabled discussion on approving bids to re-floor the weight room at the high school.
