The Indianola City Council approved the creation of an administrative clerk position at their most recent meeting Monday.
The need for the position was created because of the Indianola Municipal Utilities employees leaving City Hall, and City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city needs to replace that service.
“So right now the city and IMU share various services that the city provides a contribution for their staff to process city bills and answer phones. With the rollout of the fiber project, IMU is preparing for an increase in call volume and they expresses a desire to leave the shared service position with the city.”
Waller also said the administrative clerk position was necessary because city code prohibits the person taking the money at the front desk to be someone who then processes the money into city accounts.
