There has been much information and misinformation about what may happen to the former Veterans Administration campus in Knoxville; and as part of the effort to rehabilitate the property, the city has launched a website designed to serve as a central point for official information.

The newly-launched site at knoxvillevadistrict.com provides information about the history of the VA center, its current status and what steps the City of Knoxville would have to undertake to acquire the property and find one or more new uses for it.

Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News there have been plenty of rumors over the years about what will become of the campus.

“I think a lot of folks do this. I don’t think it’s necessarily malicious in any way; I think people…they hear somebody who says something,” Adams says. “Often it happens with even good intentions, but the information isn’t always the most up to date or the most accurate. So we do hope it’s a place that people will go.”

Adams also says this website may provide information to potential investors who are looking for a large property to redevelop; while this isn’t its primary purpose, he says there’s always a chance the right company or organization could come across it and find the location to their liking.
