It was a disappointing night for both Knoxville Basketball Squads as the girls fell for the first time this season to Bondurant-Farrar 58-46 and the boys cold shooting from the outside limited their success in a 56-46 loss to the Bluejays heard on KNIA. The girls fell behind in the second quarter due to turnovers and lack of offense. They were down by as many as 25 points in the third quarter before making a 17-0 run between the third and fourth quarters to get the deficit down to eight, but the mountain was too high to climb. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was combination of things the Bluejays did what his team was unable to do that contributed to their first loss of the season. Alex Griggs led three Panthers in double figures with 17 points…Katie Keitges had 16 and Maggie Wilkins scored 11. Knoxville is now eight-and-one on the season. The boys were 4/22 from the three point line while Bondurant-Farrar was 8/18 and that was the difference in a 56-46 loss by the Panthers. Knoxville trimmed a 15 point lead down to two in the third quarter but could not get closer. Kieren Nichols scored 20 points to lead Knoxville who falls to 5-3 on the season. Both Knoxville teams are off until January fourth on the road against Albia.
