The Pleasantville Trojans were swept on the road at Woodward-Granger Friday, 59-54 in the boys game and 33-23 in the girls game.
In the girls game a defensive battle was on hand as Pleasantville would stumble out to an early 6-4 lead after one quarter of play. The Trojans lead by senior Jordan Dursky and her 6 blocks and 8 points would lead through the first three quarters of play before being outscored 12-1 in the 4th quarter and eventually falling to the Hawks. The Pleasantville girls fall to 7-4 overall and will now enjoy the holiday break before taking on Van Meter on January 4th.
In the boys game a back and forth battle erupted as Pleasantville would come out the gate firing and lead 17-13 after one quarter over the 6-2 Hawks squad. The game would be all knotted up at 44 after three quarters of play but the Hawks would prove to be too strong toward the end and pull away from the Trojans in the final minutes. Pleasantville lead by junior Mitch Harken’s 12 points off the bench showed growth offensively with three Trojans scoring in double figures on the night. Despite the outcome Head Coach Joel Allman feels his Trojans are continuing to grow as a team. Allman tells KNIA/KRLS Sports there are a lot of positives in Fridays game and if he wants his team to continue to focus on the process and he believes they are getting to where he wants them to be. The Trojans fall to 3-6 on the year and will continue to focus on improving during the holiday break.
