Knoxville police are investigating the apparent stabbing death of a man inside a Knoxville apartment late Friday evening.

46-year-old Monte Brown died at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics shortly after the incident, which happened before 9:00 p.m. in an apartment located in the 100 block of South 2nd Street.

Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says a person of interest has been identified and interviewed; but no arrest has been made, nor any charges filed.

The victim has been transferred to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy; the results of that autopsy are pending.

The matter is still under investigation.
