The Marion County Board of Supervisors will be back at work on the day after Christmas, convening their last meeting of 2018 on Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to the holiday.

Among the items they’ll be looking at is the third and final reading of a proposal to install a communications tower near Bussey; the property would need to be re-zoned from agricultural to commercial usage to allow the installation of the tower.

Some of the nearby residents have objected to the installation of the tower; at least one has cited the health effects and the possible impact on property values.

Another tower plan will be up for discussion by the board; this involves the installation of a cell tower at 2146 Highway 5 near Knoxville.

And the board will be asked to make appointments to the HIRTA Transportation Advisory Group for the coming year.

The meeting convenes at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Marion County Courthouse.
