The Indianola girls and boys basketball team stepped out of Little Hawkeye Conference play Saturday hosting Lewis Central, and split the doubleheader with the boys winning 65-63 and the girls falling 47-29.
The Indianola boys had a 15 point lead with five minutes to go, before the Titans closed the gap and the Indians narrowly held on for the victory. Evan Gauger led the team with 22 points despite having foul trouble, with Quinn Vesey scoring 20. The Indians girls ran into a tough defensive Titans squad, that limited the Indians to three points in the first quarter with no Indians player getting into double digit scoring. Indianola was led by Lauren Blake, Alley May, and Mara Bishop each with five points on the evening. The boys improve to 8-2, the girls fall to 5-5, and both teams will travel to Urbandale on Tuesday.
