The Simpson Storm men’s basketball team played close with undefeated #1 Nebraska Wesleyan but ultimately couldn’t close the gap in a 96-84 loss, while the Storm women ran away in an 84-56 win.
The Storm men fell behind early as much as 15 in the first half, before closing the gap within striking distance down six before halftime. The second half went much the same as the first, with Nebraska Wesleyan playing well and the Storm sticking around before the Prairie Wolves closed the gap. Kyle Wagner scored 29 to lead the Storm, who fall to 9-5 on the season. The Storm women were behind 20-18 after the first quarter, but held the Prairie Wolves to just six second quarter points and dominated the rest of the way shooting 51% from the field. Jenna Taylor scored 25 in the win, while Janey Botkins scored 16 on five three point shots. The Storm women improve to 12-3. Both teams will next play on Wednesday at Central.
