The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad clinched at least of share of the South Central Conference title Thursday night with a 71-34 win over Davis County while the boys suffocated the Mustangs in a 78-46 win as heard on KNIA. The girls started off red hot leading by 17 at the end of the first quarter and building it to as high as the margin of victory at 37. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports four players were in double figures and he was happy to see some of the girls step up and score. Katie Keitges led the Panthers with 26 points while Alex Griggs hit for 13, Maggie Wilkins had 12 and Tara Uitermarkt came in with 11 points. The Panthers are 12-3 on the season and 9-0 in the conference. The boys used a run at the end of the first half, then continued it into the second blowing open the game in the third quarter with a 25-10 stretch to win 78-46. Elliott Schmidt led the Panthers with 23 while Kieren Nichols scored 21. Knoxville is now 8-6 on the season and 7-2 in the South Central Conference. Knoxville has Friday night off but comes back to hold its 11th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer event on Saturday. The games against Chariton will start at 6:15 and can be heard live on KNIA.
