Assistant US Attorney David Faith II of Indianola is one of 19 Iowans applying to fill the vacancy on the Iowa Supreme Court created when Justice Bruce Zager retired last fall.

A 17-member nominating commission interviews selects nominees after a public interview process, with the commission consisting of a member of the current Supreme Court, eight lawyers elected by those allowed to practice law in Iowa, and eight commissioners appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Iowa Senate. After the nominating commission selects a pool of qualified nominees, the names will be forwarded to Governor Reynolds, who has 30 days to appoint a new justice. Faith currently holds the position of Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa.
