A girl from Melcher-Dallas has been found safe in Texas, and will soon be returned home; and after investigators worked for over three days to track her down, they will now turn their attention to the circumstances of her disappearance.

Fourteen-year-old Liberty Boley was reported missing Monday afternoon; the Melcher-Dallas High School freshman’s disappearance was reported to local police, and the investigation grew to involve the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Attorney, the DCI and eventually police agencies in Texas.

Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS News investigators at all levels worked around the clock to track her down, and they got particular help from some of the department’s unsung heroes — their dispatchers.

“Obviously they have a hard enough job in regards to answering all the calls for service that go on on a normal day; but they were also very beneficial and assisted us in gathering information on where Libby was at,” Sandholdt says.

Marion County Attorney Ed Bull says he and his staff also put in long hours to help locate her; he says no one is facing charges at the moment, but his office will now investigate whether any are warranted.

“The next stage of the investigation is to determine who were the primary actors and what their actions were, and where did their actions take place at,” Bull says. “And that will take time as we continue to develop all the information that we need to know to hold whoever may be responsible, responsible.”

The Department of Human Services is in charge of arranging for her transportation home.
