The Simpson Storm women’s and men’s basketball teams ran away from the Beavers last night in a pair of victories on their home court.
The Storm women outscored the Beavers in all four quarters to win 75-53, breaking out of their shooting slump to make 10 three point shots. Jenna Taylor notched a double-double including going 5-6 from long range to score 22 points and grab 10 rebounds. The Storm men got out to a big lead early in the first half and into the halftime break, but saw the Beavers slowly chip away getting the deficit down to just three points with two minutes to go. The Storm then salted the game away with clutch free throws and timely turnovers to pick up the 97-89. The Storm shot 18-32 from long range in the win, led by Conor Riordan and Kyle Wagner each scoring 23. The Storm women improve to 15-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play, the Storm men are now 10-7 overall and 4-5 in league play. The Storm squads will next hit the court Saturday hosting Dubuque.
