The Marion County Road Department reports severe drifting has limited travel throughout the county.

Paved roads will have slick spots and drifting. Travel this evening and overnight will be difficult or impossible on some gravel roads. Crews have worked to keep roads at least one lane wherever possible. If travel is reduced to one lane, they ask all to use extreme caution. Gusty winds have been blowing around the snowpack next to many area streets built up by three snow storms this month, with all area residents seeing between 16-24 inches of snow this month alone.

Some residents may not be able to get home this evening and if options for shelter are a concern, they should contact Marion County Emergency Management (Phone Number:
(641) 828-2256; Cell Number: (641) 891-2560). Other emergency related issues related to impassable roads should be conveyed to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews will continue to work to clear all roads of snow as soon as possible.
