The preparation for the City of Indianola budget process will soon come to a close, with council members sharing their thoughts and recommendations at the next city council meeting on February 4th.

The council held a work session after their regular meeting on January 21st to go over the current information, which Indianola City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News involves a lot more than just the operation of city departments.

“We’ve been talking a lot about public safety staffing, and there is a lot of civic requests from not-for-profit partnerships that are looking for funding. The property tax levy will also be a big discussion point and something we need direction from the council on. The current budget is proposed around a percentage property tax increase, which is to fund two additional police officers and three additional firefighters for the next year.”

Waller also said that if any member of the public wants to receive more information on the budget process they can visit the city website, and can call city hall with any further questions.
