Pella’s girls exploded offensively in the 4th quarter of a 52-45 comeback win over Norwalk and the boys couldn’t stop junior star Bowen Born in a 83-76 loss to the Warriors, as heard live on KRLS2.

The Lady Dutch only made three shots from the field in the first half, and trailed by as much as 10 late in the 3rd quarter, but a 26-11 quarter flipped the script on a young Norwalk team.

Emily Holterhaus had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Madison Naig tacked on 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Elly Cairney scored 12.

The boys controlled the first half of their marquee matchup between the top two teams in the conference, leading 40-33, but Norwalk’s offense, led by all-star Bowen Born, couldn’t be stopped in the final two quarters, much like the Little Dutch were back when the teams met in December. Born scored a school record 47 points in the matchup, while Pella got 26 each from Ryan Gustafson and Logan Shetterly.

Pella’s girls improve to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the boys fall to 11-3 and snap a 9-game winning streak and drop to 2nd place in the conference behind the Warriors. Both teams welcome Pella Christian Monday.
