Andrew Yang, who is running for the Democratic Party nomination in the 2020 Presidential Election, is visiting both Simpson and Central College on Thursday.
A key principle of Yang’s campaign is meeting the threat of artificial intelligence taking jobs with a universal basic income, beginning at $1,000 a month for every American adult. Yang joins a crowded Democratic Party field, that has seen Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Representative John Delaney having already declared. Yang will speak at Simpson College in McNeill Hall from 4:30 to 5:30pm, then head to Central College to speak in the Graham Conference Center from 7-8pm.
