A wind chill warning is in effect for a stretch of historic cold in Iowa.

Wind chill values will drop to as low as 40 below zero tonight and Wednesday night. Hypothermia and frostbite can happen rapidly in those conditions, even in as little as five to ten minutes. Several area schools and community activities have delayed and canceled due to the frigid conditions.
