A Knoxville man faces charges for reportedly contacting a woman he’d been ordered to stay away from, and interfering with her attempts to get help.
48-year-old Christopher Johnson was arrested on Friday in connection with an incident earlier in the week; Knoxville Police say he approached her outside an apartment building last Monday night around 7:30, in violation of an earlier no-contact order.
Police say he punched her, tried to take her cell phone when she tried to call police and then fled the scene when she pulled out pepper spray.
Police say Johnson has previously called the victim in violation of the order, and have a witness confirming it. Johnson is charged with counts including stalking in violation of a protective order, violation of a no-contact order, obstructing emergency communication and domestic abuse assault. The last charge would be a second offense.
A hearing for Johnson is scheduled for January 31st.
