Discussion of the Senior Nutrition Program is scheduled for tomorrow’s Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting; and because a larger than usual crowd is expected, the meeting has been switched to a larger venue.

The board will now convene at the Marion County Public Health Department at 9:00 a.m.

Proposed changes to the nutrition program led senior citizens to meet shortly after the last Board of Supervisors meeting; and many of them vowed to attend the next one to get more details.

Kim Dorn is director of the Marion County Public Health Department; she tells KNIA/KRLS News a presentation on the fiscal aspects of this plan is scheduled for the meeting, but she would like to hear in advance from anyone who sees any flaws in the overall proposal.

“As they look at the proposal, if they look at it and they say, ‘Oh my gosh, this piece right here will not work, because of this,’ I would love to hear from them,” Dorn says.

But the plan is intended to benefit all the senior citizens of the county, and Dorn says points from the public should be made with an eye towards that instead of particular problems affecting an individual. She says personalized problems should be addressed directly with her department as the revised program is in its formative stages.
