Organizers of a permit to carry class in Knoxville next week say they make it an easygoing session, but one also detailing the important points of gun ownership and gun safety.

A class for obtaining a permit to carry a weapon is scheduled to be held on Thursday, February 7th at the Knoxville VFW Post at 413 Lincoln Street.  The VFW is hosting the session along with Iowa Carry Safe.

The class will include basic safety and handling procedures, as well as Iowa laws covering everything from locations where weapons are prohibited, to use of force and interacting with police.

No registration is required; those who take the course can obtain an Iowa Permit to Carry, and are eligible to carry firearms in 34 states.
