The Pella Community Foundation Board of Directors awarded an all-time record of 38 grants to local non-profit organizations Friday.
Foundation President Jim Brandl tells KRLS News they received a record number of applications this year and they were able to fund grants touching a broad cross-section of people within the community, for a record amount of $100,000.
“Grants will again help provide summer sack lunches to area children, support housing for special needs individuals and their families, allow middle-school students to help in the preparation of Meals from the Heartland, provide funds for mini-grants for area school teachers though the Excellence in Education program, and support the Pella Community Reading Experience, among other projects,” he says.
Over its 27-year history, the foundation has awarded $1,094,000 in board directed grants.
