It was not a successful road trip the Simpson Storm women’s and men’s basketball teams, both falling by double digit margins 94-79 and 100-79 respectively. The Storm women faced a barrage of post play, being outscored in the paint 42-20 throughout the game, but stayed even with the Duhawks before a hard charging run gave Loras a 14 point lead. The Storm clawed all the way back to get within four, but what would be a common theme throughout the afternoon the Duhawks went on another 10-0 run to keep the lead at 14 at the halftime break. The Storm fought back again in the third, but Loras put them away with several more runs to build a lead they would not relinquish. Cassie Chubb scored 17 off the bench to lead Simpson. The Storm men faced a red-hot shooting Duhawks squad that hit nine three point shots en route to building a 51-26 halftime lead and never looked back. The Storm never go closer than 20 the rest of the way, despite hitting seven of their own three point shots in the second half. Adam Reiter led the way with 17 points. The Storm women fall to 16-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play, and have set the single-season record for most three-point shots made despite the loss. The men fall to 12-8 and 6-6, and both teams will host Luther Monday evening.
