Just two days after taking down one of the top teams in the conference in Luther, the Simpson Storm women’s basketball team was upset by the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan 82-80 in overtime Wednesday evening, while the men fell to the #1 Prairie Wolves 102-71. The Storm women were outscored by five in the first half 38-33, but fought back to take a one point lead in the fourth at 65-64 and had a lead as high as 6 at one point, but NWU fought back to send the game to the extra time, where the Prairie Wolves made a shot with less than a second left to win the ball game. Jenna Taylor finished with 24 points and Cassie Chubb chipped in 21 as the Storm fall to 17-6 overall and 9-5 in the conference. The Storm men were outmatched by the top ranked Prairie Wolves, building a 56-36 halftime lead and keeping that going throughout the final 20 minutes. Kyle Wagner scored 20 points to lead the Storm, who fall to 13-9 overall and 7-7 in conference play. The Storm will take a week off before hosting Central next Wednesday.
