Several local high school athletes signed their letters of intent on National Signing Day as they head to the next level of competition.

Pella Christian’s Jayden Huisman decided to choose football over basketball as he heads to Dordt College. His grandfather was the AD at Dordt, and his older brother Alex is a freshman on campus as well. Jayden was the go-to receiver for the Eagles football team until an injury ended his senior season early, as he collected 33 catches and 364 yards. Huisman is also averaging 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for the 12-7 Eagles basketball team.

Nathan De Bruin, as reported previously on 92.1 KRLS, signed his letter to attend Drake. De Bruin finished his career 15 for 21 on field goals and converted on 175 of 183 point after attempts in three all-state seasons for Pella Christian as a kicker.

Two transfers of former Eagles and Little Dutch athletes will join Huisman at Dordt. Class of 2015 Graduate Quinton Murphy has graduated from UNI, but still has two years of eligibility and chose Dordt University for graduate school. Murphy played for Iowa Central Community College for as season and then joined the UNI Panthers program as a student coach. Murphy ran for 871 yards and 16 touchdowns on the 2014 State Champion Pella Football team.

Class of 2018 Pella Christian graduate Trevan Cadwell is also heading to the Defenders, leaving from Coe College. adwell was a key contributor primarily on defense his junior and senior seasons, collecting 59 tackles and 12.5 for a loss on Pella Christian teams with back to back undefeated regular seasons in 2016 and 2017.
