Hy-Vee’s mobile health unit is making a stop in Knoxville next week, to encourage people to check on their health during American Heart Month.
The Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile will be at the Knoxville Hy-Vee on February 16th from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. to offer free health screenings. Customers can pass through the mobile unit and receive free blood pressure tests, as well as testing for their blood glucose, cholesterol, BMI index and more.
Samantha Thomas is a dietitian for Hy-Vee; she tells KNIA/KRLS News the tests are quick, and can provide you with valuable information about the state of your health.
“It gives you a lot of great information that, since it’s Heart Healthy Month for February, it really gives us some good information of where you’re at and where you can maybe improve in your lifestyle,” Thomas says. “And in addition to getting all the information, they can meet with me then and there and ask me questions about how to improve certain numbers.”
Thomas says anyone can come through during those hours; she says for best results, you should fast for about eight hours before being tested, but it’s not a requirement.
