An Otley man arrested for several felony charges after an argument turned into police searches and an investigation has been sentenced.

Randy Zentner, 47, of Otley, pled guilty to 2nd degree criminal mischief, control of a firearm by a felon, and received two years of probation and a five year suspended prison sentence. According to court records filed in 2017, police say Zentner called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report Shannon Ferguson was at his Otley residence in November of 2017, and that she was wanted in Jasper and Marion Counties. Zentner was, at the time, a suspect in the theft of his brother’s firearms from the same residence. After search warrants were obtained, officers found a car with tools to counterfeit money believed to be used by Ferguson. She was charged with forgery and 1st degree theft, and awaits sentencing in March.

While in custody, Ferguson told police Zentner was in possession of a stolen vehicle and firearms taken from his brother. After rounds of later questioning and investigation, the car was determined to be stolen out of West Des Moines and valued at $35,000. Zentner also denied stealing the firearms, but police report a subsequent search warrant turned up guns, ammunition, and parts.
