Registration begins soon for early childhood programs in the Pella Community School District.
Madison Elementary Principal John Steddom says free preschool is available once again next academic year, with transportation provided for a small cost to help with the half-day schedules provided.
“The thing that has been new for this year has been transportation available, and so students can be transported from home or their local bus stop to either Lincoln or Madison, with the same thing at the end of the day free of charge,” he says.
“We also then have transportation in the middle of the day…for that transportation window, there is a cost for that, and it’s pretty nominal — it’s about a dollar a day.”
Lincoln Principal Rich Schulte says the district is hosting a special early childhood night for prospective and current parents of next school year’s preschoolers, pre-kindergartners, and kindergartners on Thursday, February 28th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Madison Elementary. Teachers and staff will be on hand to discuss their role in a child’s education and answer questions about programs offered.
Registration for the Pella Community School District opens on March 1st at their website, pellaschools.org.
