The City of Pleasantville wants to set out a long-term plan for its development, and has brought in a consulting firm which plans to include all areas of the community in the process.
At its meeting Monday night, the Pleasantville City Council approved the hiring of McClure Engineering as its planning consultant; the company intends to include business, education, government and citizens in the process.
Police Chief and City Administrator Joe Mrstik tells KNIA/KRLS News they not only intend to involve the town as a whole, but to make sure the city follows through on McClure’s recommendations.
“I think what we’re trying to get away from is…having great aspirations for a town, and then putting those into a binder and putting them up on a shelf and letting them collect dust, because it’s not feasible to do,” Mrstik says.
“This consultant firm, McClure Engineering, will actually get some objectives so we can accomplish them.”
The Council also approved the renaming of a park shelter house in honor of Frank Jolly; he was instrumental in its construction, and left the city an endowment when he passed away a few months ago.
