The City of Pleasantville is honoring the memory of a man who helped bring their park shelter house into being, by renaming it in his honor.
Frank Jolly was a Pleasantville native who passed away in December; he was instrumental in having the shelter house built, and Police Chief and City Administrator Joe Mrstik tells KNIA/KRLS News he went on to a successful career…with a small place in history.
“And he was an inventor; if you remember Saddam Hussein, when he got captured and the doctor…looking at his beard and his eyes with a penlight, he actually invented that penlight,” Chief Mrstik says.
“So when he passed away, his family left the city an endowment fund for the shelter house, and he had a great, great role in creating what the park is today.”
In tribute to him and his efforts, the Pleasantville City Council on Monday night voted to rename the shelter house as the Frank H. Jolly Park Shelter.
