The Pella School Board meeting postponed last week due to weather will be held today. On the agenda is consideration of adopting of the 2019-20 academic calendar, as well as review of Superintendent Greg Ebeling’s recommendation for the last day of school due to time missed so far because of weather. Because of the several rounds of snowfall and historic cold, more than 63 hours of class have been cancelled through days off, late starts, and early dismissals, with more possible this week as heavy snow is again in the forecast. The recommendation would end school on June 7th, and builds an extra 20 hours in case of more snow days between now and the end of the school year. The Pella School Board will also review the 2017-18 audit and consider sharing a human resource director with Knoxville and Pleasantville. During a work session, they will discuss the certified budget process for the upcoming fiscal year and see an updated projection for those numbers based on the supplemental state aid package approved by the Iowa Legislature this session. The rescheduled Pella School Board meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Pella High School Main Office Conference Room.
