A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Tuesday at the Marion County Courthouse for a man charged with the shooting death of his mother in 2015.

Jason Carter is charged with the death of his mother Shirley; his trial has been moved out of the county, and will convene on March 5th in Council Bluffs.

The pre-trial will allow the court to deal with outstanding motions, and lay out the ground rules for how the trial will proceed. This case will pose logistical challenges for all concerned, because of the change of venue and because of the number of potential witnesses which could be called; around 100 subpoenas have been issued.

The trial is projected to take around four weeks.
